According to alkhaleej.ae website, Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah, has gifted the copies to the academy.

They date back to the 10th and 11th Hijri centuries (16th and 17th centuries AD).

Sheikh Sherzad Abdul Rahman Taher, Secretary General of the Quran Complex, thanked the ruler of Sharjah for gifting the manuscripts and said the manuscripts attest to the greatness and genuineness of the Islamic civilization.

He also said the complex plans to launch an electronic platform.

Shirzad added that the platform will present digital copies of all the manuscripts held in the museums of the complex to researchers, scholars and students all over the world.

The Quran Academy was launched in Sharjah in December 2020.

Spread over an area of 75,000 square meters, it has been built in the shape of the Islamic eight-pointed star with 34 domes. It is home to seven scientific and historical museums.

The museums exhibit 60 manuscripts distributed over 15 sections, each of which chronicles a century of events. About 308 copies of the Holy Quran and archaeological manuscripts are on display as well.

Among other interesting artefacts are 18 kiswas — the black cloth that covers the Holy Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The oldest kiswa dates back to Hijri year 970.
